Jane Hill outs herself as gay in BBC's in-house magazine

BBC newsreader Jane Hill has outed herself as gay in the Corporation's in-house magazine.
The 40-year-old presenter revealed she was living with her partner Sara and their dog Mavis in an interview with Ariel.
The couple have been together for about a year.
'Everyone has known for years that Jane is gay,' a colleague said.
'She hasn't made a secret of it at the BBC and although she has had other girlfriends over the years, this one seems to be the one.'
Described by one male TV critic as 'severe but sexy,' Miss Hill is much admired for her presentational and reporting skills.
At one point, she even had her own unofficial internet fan club.
According to Richard Kay, Miss Hill dated Strictly Come Dancing winner Chris Hollins in the past. The pair split up some years ago but remain good friends.
Miss Hill started working in BBC local radio at 16 before taking a politics degree at London University.
After graduating from the corporation's regional news trainee scheme, she worked as a producer at Five Live before moving to television.
Miss Hill is now an anchor on the BBC's News Channel and presented Christmas Day lunchtime bulletins.
She has worked on many high profile stories including Hurricane Katrina, 9/11 and the  inauguration of Barack Obama.
However, she describes her hardest job as dealing with the Madeleine McCann case.
'I was there the day after she disappeared and ended up being there for the whole of May,' she told Ariel.

'It was emotionally draining, that lack of resolution.I'm not a parent but I don't need to be one to know how absolutely horrific it must be.'
Miss Hill's lists her interests as the theatre, food and wine and going to the gym.
She admits to being an Archers addict on her BBC profile.

The cagefighter is entering the Celebrity Big Brother house at the weekend and Katie is determined to send him off in style.

Another major sponsor has dumped Tiger Woods in the rough.
Phone giant AT&T became the second advertiser to cancel its multi-million pound deal with the shamed golfer.
The company signed a multi-year agreement last February for Woods to carry its logo emblazoned on his golf bag.
And the world’s top golfer has hosted the annual AT&T PGA tournament since it started two years ago.
But yesterday the phone firm severed its ties with Woods, joining a growing list of sponsors distancing themselves from him in the aftermath of the cheating scandal.
Lurid revelations about the golfer’s string of alleged infidelities was a public relations nightmare for companies that paid him more than £63million a year for endorsements.
According to a new study by researchers in California, total losses for shareholders at companies who sponsored the fallen sports hero could add up to as much as £8billion.
Global consulting firm Accenture was the first to jettison Woods and some advertisers, including Gillette and luxury Swiss watchmakers Tag Heuer, have dialled back their campaigns featuring him.

However, Nike, by far Woods’ biggest backer, has said it will stand by the beleaguered sports star.
AT&T, which is based in Dallas, Texas, did not comment on its reasons for dropping Woods or say how much the relationship was worth.

There is something familiar about this glamorous brunette strolling on the shore.
With straw hat, sunglasses and a swimsuit showing off every spectacular curve, she has what can only be described as the Cheryl Cole factor.

She's the child star of one of last year's highest grossing movies, but Rubina Ali has been left homeless for the second time in a year.
The Slumdog Millionaire actress, 10, and her family had to sleep in the open air after their home in India was demolished to make way for a new railway line.
This comes despite the promise of a new luxury apartment paid for by a trust fund set up by the hit film's director Danny Boyle.

Azharuddin’s family has moved into their new flat but Rubina’s family have had their move delayed because they are still locked in a dispute over the apartment with the film-maker’s Jai Ho Trust.
According to local media, the Ali family wants an apartment worth 4million rupees (£53,000) instead of the 2.5million rupee home that the British director has bought for them.
The Jai Ho Trust consists of a £450,000 pot of money to provide for Rubina’s and Azharuddin’s education and housing, and was set up by Danny Boyle in April.
Rubina and Azharuddin played the youngest versions of Latika, the film's female lead, and Salim, the brother of the hero Jamaal, in Slumdog, which won eight Oscars earlier this year.
The film is estimated to have grossed almost £240million worldwide and launched British actor Dev Patel and his girlfriend Frieda Pinto to stardom.
Concerns for Rubina’s welfare grew earlier this year when her father was reported to have offered to sell her for £200,000.
The father denied the allegation and police said that they found no evidence against him.

A relaxing time in Barbados has certainly had a positive effect on X Factor star Alexandra Burke.
The singer, who won last year's series, was spotted leaving the Caribbean island looking refreshed and oozing star quality.
Alex, 21, showed off her fantastic figure at Barbados airport in a pair of denim hotpants, a t-shirt with the slogan 'Every girl loves a super hero' and huge brown wedge-heels.

Kate Moss has escaped the gloom and grey of London at New Year and yet again swapped it for a New Year's break in Thailand.
But she nearly didn't make it. According to reports, a monster hangover on Boxing Day meant she missed her flight.
Today there was no sign of any illness as the slim model and boyfriend Jamie Hince spent New Year's Eve taking a boat trip and walking along golden sands together.

The 35-year-old looked boho chic in a black bikini and sheer gold and black T-shirt and carrying a fringed bag for their day out.
It involved them taking a speedboat from the beach to a larger vessel to take in the sights around the coastline.
Her guitarist boyfriend, 40, wore denim hotpants and a long-sleeved top.
Thailand is one of Kate's favourite destinations and she was reportedly devastated when Hince said she was too ill for fly out on Boxing Day.
According to reports, the couple had been due to fly out first class with friends on the 26th.
But the model was forced to cancel after suffering from a bad hangover.

According to the Daily Mirror, she spent hours drinking on Christmas morning and after indulging in her lunch, was ill for the rest of the day.
She missed her £2,800 first-class flight and four other flights she had paid for family and friends also went unused - as well as two nights of accommodation.
Luckily, Kate has finally made it out to Thailand after flying out on Tuesday evening.
She spent last New Year's with Jamie in Thailand, and used to holiday there with former love Pete Doherty.

Her record company boss Simon Cowell is rarely off his jet ski as he splashes about the Caribbean.So Alexandra Burke clearly felt it was time to get a piece of the action during her Barbados holiday.
The star hopped on the back of a baby pink machine to speed about the turquoise waters by the exclusive Sandy Lane resort yesterday.

But unlike Mr Cowell, the 21-year-old singer needed a bit of a helping hand.
Strapped into a life jacket, she clung on to a friend and looked more than a little nervous as they took to the water.
Alexandra wrote on Twitter before hopping on to the jet ski. She tweeted: 'Jet ski time!! Let's hope I don't fall off!!!!'
She later added: 'Ok, so I didn't fall that's all that matters lol.'

The star also had the chance to show off yet another bikini on the golden beaches.
After wearing a red-hot bikini the previous day, and a brown two-piece on Sunday, Alexandra wore a flattering white number.

Teaming the halterneck style with bangles and aviator sunglasses, the former X Factor winner looked as if she had got to grips with star style.

But there seemed to be no real harm done as she tweeted about the wildlife later, saying: 'The crickets are out to play!! Its my lucky day!!'
The Londoner is staying at the exclusive five-star Sandy Lane resort, where her record boss Simon Cowell regularly  stays.
The Sugababes, Rihanna, Topshop boss Sir Philip Green, Gary Lineker and Danielle Bux as well as Jude Law and Sienna Miller are also soaking up the sun on the island.
Alexandra is taking a break after a busy few months promoting her debut single Bad Boys, and the follow up Broken Heels, as well as debut album Overcome.
In the video for Broken Heels, the singer wears a crop top of an American Football outfit and shows off her toned stomach.
And with the single out in January, she will have been doing plenty of sit-ups to ensure the outfit still looks good. During the X Factor last year, she slimmed down from a size 12 to 14 to a size 10.
She admitted: 'I worry about it a lot.’
But during the filming for her latest video, she said: 'We have taken it up a notch [from Bad Boys]. It was scary to go that side.
'We showed a bit of skin but it was fun. I was comfortable with it, though, it was done very tastefully.
'I wanted to make sure this video was different and I wanted to make sure it wasn’t a load of girls who are, in the press’s eyes, perfect.

'I have some plus-sized girls in there. They are hot too.
Writing on her blog a few days ago, Alexandra enthused: 'When I look back at this year there’s so many things that make me happy, like performing for you guys on all these different shows, getting a number one single and album, meeting the Queen, performing on X Factor and many many more things, so thanks again to you all for making that possible.
'I really do hope that 2010 unfolds to be a year like this year, believe me, I will continue to keep working hard for you and most of all having fun while doing it.'
